Apple May Replace Your Apple Watch Series 2 which needs Repair With Series 3

At the moment, people owning Apple Watch Series 2 wearables devices that are shipped for repair may find that they receive at least one Apple Watch Series 3.

Apple Watch Series 2

According to an internal document sent to Apple stores and some authorized service providers, a temporary lack of part means that Apple is delivering upgraded watches instead of opting to repair the old ones.

MacRumors could get their hands on the document, which also states that Apple Watch Series 3 requires an iPhone that supports watchOS 4 or later. This, in turn, means that iPhone 5 or iPhone 5c owners will have to upgrade their iPhone, although those unwilling to do so may apparently contact Apple and request a refund. It is not clear whether the repayment will be made at the full Apple Watch value or not.

Apple has launched similar programs like this in the past, when parts were hard to find, leading some users to receive new and improved products as warranty substitutes.

However, there is no guarantee that you will be lucky enough to receive an Apple Watch Series 3 if you have an Apple Watch Series 2 being repaired at this time, given the confidence in the shortage of stocks to make it happen. Of course, we wouldn’t suggest trying to check the system here.

If, of course, you have a legitimate claim for a damaged Apple Watch Series 2, now may be the time to look for a repair or, if you’re lucky, a replacement.
