Changes made to the Samsung Galaxy Fold should prevent a repeat of the previous issues

Samsung Galaxy Fold

If it looks like we’ve been writing about the Samsung Galaxy Fold for years, well, it’s because we’ve done it. The rumors on a foldable Samsung phone, called Galaxy X, started to take off in 2016. Finally, the first foldable phone of a major manufacturer was ready to be released on April 26th.

All the lights were green until several influential people were known to have removed a plastic film from the Galaxy Fold’s large internal screen despite Samsung’s warnings against doing so. When the film is removed the folding screen is deactivated. Furthermore, other problems have arisen; Debris enters through a hinge into a unit and causes a bulge on the screen.

Samsung has decided to delay the launch of the Galaxy Fold only four days before the planned launch. And the company has announced that it will grant a refund to those who have pre-ordered the device if they decide to withdraw before the phone is shipped. In fact, unless Samsung does not listen to those who have pre-ordered the device, it automatically cancels and reimburses all paid reservations if the Galaxy Fold is not shipped before May 31st. The user guide for the AT&T version of the Galaxy Fold has been leaked revealing that Samsung is doubling the warning about posting the display and warning device users that there is a fold in the middle of the 7.3-inch screen is expected.

SamMobile cites a new report from South Korea that claims to reveal all the changes Samsung has made to improve the Galaxy Fold. First, it has now pushed the protective film in the body of the screen to prevent buyers from removing it. It is possible to warn smartphone buyers a million times not to remove a film, but if they see a corner that can lift a finger, it just wants to zero. This movement will avoid the problem that caused the influencers to damage their units. To avoid repeating the debacle of debris, Samsung reduces the size of the gap on the top and bottom of the hinge.

Furthermore, in addition to adding a warning about removing the protective film on the internal display, Samsung is adding more warnings on the Galaxy fold package. DJ Koh, the most important man of Samsung Mobile, says he expects a new shipping date to be announced sooner or later. Smart money is betting on a June version of the Galaxy Fold. Meanwhile, the device is being tested by some wireless service providers in South Korea.

Other manufacturers are watching Samsung closely to avoid the same mistakes

The Samsung Galaxy Fold has an external Super AMOLED screen of 4.6 inches with a resolution of 720 x 1680. When the device is opened, it shows the internal screen of 7.3 inches (includes notch) with a resolution of 1536 x 2152. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 855 mobile platform with 12 GB of memory and 512 GB of memory. The triple camera setup includes a 12 MP main camera with a variable aperture between f / 1.5 and f / 2.4 and OIS.

There’s a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and a 16-megapixel camera with a wide-angle lens. Keeping the lights on is a 4380 mAh battery and Android 9 is pre-installed along with Samsung’s OneUI. The latter moves all contact elements down the screen to prevent users from having to stretch their fingers to touch the icons or links at the top of the display. You can open and use three apps simultaneously.

The Galaxy Fold is priced at $1,980 in the US. It’s just one of many folding phones that we hope to see this year. Soon Huawei Mate X (with a price equivalent to $2,600), or the unreported Motorola RAZR (2019) could be introduced.
