Samsung Has Two Budget Flagships On The Way And One With 5G Support

The Galaxy Fold, Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy Note 10 series (including 5G models) indicate that by the end of the summer, Samsung will introduce a total of ten smartphones with Snapdragon 855 technology. However, the company does not stop there.

According to informant Steve Hemmerstoffer, Samsung currently has two new smartphones in process with model numbers SM-A905 and SM-A908. Apparently, these two will be powered by Qualcomm’s high-end Snapdragon 855 and should be below the Galaxy S10 line.

As indicated by the model numbers and as suggested by previous losses, the next smartphones will probably be marketed as Galaxy A90 and Galaxy A90 5G. Hemmerstoffer has recently stated that the devices would be released as part of a new Galaxy R series but now claims that its sources have confused Samsung’s internal and commercial naming patterns. As a result, the tipster also supports the Galaxy A90 nickname.

Rather, as expected, Galaxy A90 and Galaxy A90 5G are configured to be quite similar. According to the information provided today, both models will come equipped with huge 6.7-inch AMOLED screens combined with on-screen fingerprint scanners. There is also three-camera setups on the back of the two devices, although there will be some key differences in this area.

Like the Samsung Galaxy A80 announced in April, the Galaxy A90 standard will feature a 48-megapixel main camera. This will be combined with a 12-megapixel secondary snapper and a third 5-megapixel sensor. The functionality of each sensor has not yet been revealed, but other Samsung devices suggest that the first will present a wide-angle lens, while the second should collect depth data. It is also believed that there are plans to include an exclusive Tilt OIS technology that could help straighten out the photos before bringing them.

The 5G variant, on the other hand, is configured to preserve 48 megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors. However, the 12-megapixel camera seems to have changed with an alternative of 8 megapixels. Similarly, Tilt OIS technology will apparently be eliminated, potentially as part of efforts to contain costs.

The Galaxy A90 May be Cheaper Than The Galaxy S10e

Although the exact plans of Samsung for the Galaxy A90 offerings have not yet been specified, a rumor dating back to March indicates the existence of a budget flagship that would have a lower price than the Galaxy S10e.

The cheapest Galaxy S10 model, for those of you who don’t know it yet, has a sale price of $749.99 in the U.S. Through a variety of offers, the flagship can be found much cheaper nowadays, but the official price would suggest that the standard Galaxy A90 could sell for around $699.99 or even $649.99, depending on how aggressively Samsung chooses the price of the device.

Although the same processing power is provided, the Galaxy A90 will definitely reduce some aspects when it comes to functionality. In particular, the high-quality glass and ultrasound fingerprint scanner found in the Galaxy S10 series will probably be exchanged for glossy plastic and an optical alternative. Similarly, a triple camera setup is also expected, the quality of each sensor should be significantly lower. Other discounts could come in the form of storage or battery capacity. However, there is a fast reload and Android 9 Pie together with a user interface directly from the box.

A similar philosophy can be envisaged by comparing the Galaxy A90 5G with the Galaxy S10 5G, although in this case, the ratings are probably more remarkable. However, this should be offset by a significantly lower price: The Galaxy S10 5G retails at $1299.99 in the U.S.
