The Galaxy Fold Is All Set to Hit the Market, According to One Samsung Exec

Just when you may have thought that the drama surrounding the often-delayed release of Samsung Galaxy Fold has peaked, a company executive adds the current intrigue and confusion. Technically, Kim Seong-cheol works for Samsung Display instead of Samsung Electronics, but as vice president of the display company of the latter, one would expect him to be very familiar with the situation of the long-awaited first folding device of the Korean giant.

According to Kim, the Galaxy Fold is all set to go on the market, since “most of its display problems” have been resolved “. This is simply the latest in a long list of conflicting official statements on the issue of telephone launching and “stabilization” efforts, which differ greatly from the opinion of an anonymous Samsung employee who said a few days ago that he has seen no progress since April “.

Before getting excited about the latest development of the Galaxy Fold launch, it is important to note that the ambiguity of Kim’s statements quoted by The Korea Herald’s The Investor. As far as we know, there were only two errors with the Samsung folding smartphone. One, the protective layer applied to the flexible screen seemed too similar to a normal plastic screen protector, it broke too easily and caused almost immediate and irreparable damage. Secondly, there was a noticeable gap between that layer and the screen bezels, which made it easier for the debris to come into direct contact with the fragile plastic screen.

In short, Samsung has apparently had two (quite large) problems to solve, and “many” of which have apparently been resolved. Even leaving aside the “how” of the equation, this generates more questions than answers. Has Samsung successfully solved one of the problems, leaving the other partially repaired? If so, which of the two has gone completely and which is necessary to be vigilant? Worse yet, has Samsung discovered additional vulnerabilities, most of which have been repaired?

All that is in the air right now, but apparently the Galaxy Fold is “ready for the market”, at least from the theoretical point of view of this Samsung display executive.

A New Release Date Of The Galaxy Fold Has Not Been Announced Yet

Remember when the more specific shipping information had to appear in “two weeks”? What about when CEO Koh Dong-jin promised a “conclusion” on the modified release schedule in a couple of days? At least today we are not receiving an equally empty promise. In reality, we are not getting anything in terms of a possible new date or timeline, which could be the best.

But if the Fold Galaxy is really “ready”, our hopes for a commercial debut in July will suddenly be reborn. At the latest, it appears that the innovative device should see the light of day along with the Galaxy Note 10 in August. This is not ideal for a product initially scheduled to reach stores in the United States. In April, it is however very likely that it will pass the Huawei Mate X with the commercial hit.

On the other hand, if we believe in Huawei‘s official motivation for its flip phone delay, Galaxy Fold could also land in September. The Chinese tech giant says things like certification and the test network operator are actually holding the Mate X, and the same could end up affecting the release timing of Galaxy Fold too. When the leaflet is available, the vice president of Samsung display should “receive a lot of attention in the market.” Hopefully, this time is the good kind of attention, instead of the negative buzz generated by unexpected accidents and catastrophic damage to the screen.
