The Google Pixel C Android Tablet May No Longer Receive Security Updates

Google Pixel C powered by an octa-core Nvidia Tegra X1 processor. It comes with 3GB of RAM.

if we take into account the camera, the Google Pixel C on the rear sports 8-megapixel camera. The device sports a 2-megapixel camera on the front for selfies.

It is possible that Google’s Pixel C, the last Android tablet on the front line launched in December 2015, has stopped receiving monthly security patches. There were no official announcements, and the specific device delays have already happened, but the Pixel C was not among those that received the July update set today, and the precise time is very suspect.

Although Google does not include Pixel C on the help page of its update program, the company detects when it discusses the Pixel phones that “get security updates for at least 18 months since the last time the Google Store sold the device”. Google Pixel C was last sold in the Play Store in December 2017, about 18 months ago.

Google has not published a specific expiration date regarding the duration of the support of the Pixel C software, but the absence of this month (which we did not notice at the beginning) is known, given its adequacy in the expected timeline. The Nexus 5X and 6P lasted only a month after their EOL dates had passed.

We contacted Google for more information or to confirm that the update period expired explicitly, but there was none at the time of publication. If it’s the end, from 2015 to 2019 it’s a very good run for the Android tablet, which has been forgotten so much. At least there’s always LineageOS, even if you’re only watching Android 8.0 Oreo.
